- Track surface decals support explicit UV coordinate assignments. You just can't assign UVs in Sandbox. They always stretch the image across the entire decal.
- Track surfaces and walls support explicit UV coordinate assignments. But like with decals, you just can't assign them directly in Sandbox.
- The name of a TSO instance is tied to the 3DO that it references, not the instance. When you load a track, the name of the first instance of a particular 3DO becomes the name of all instances.
- Only the position and angle of each end of a track segment is stored, along with a flag to determine if the segment is straight or curved.
- The only difference between a PTF and 3DO file is what the file's root node is. For a PTF file, it's always a TrackDescriptor node.
- The names of the bump maps are encrypted 16-byte strings. I do not know the encryption algorithm.
- PTF files use the same Appearance and Texture nodes as 3DO files.
- If you change the path to a tackmat texture to a directory with the same length as trackmat, Sandbox will accept it, but the wall or surface will appear solid white.
