Next up is an idea I've had for a while that asks: what if Michael Kranefuss Racing never merged with Penske? I chose Little Caesars as a sponsor as they sponsored the team in the past, in association with KMart, but I decided to have them as a standalone deal here.

With Kranefuss's #37 team still operating, I decided Penske ultimately expanded to 2 cars anyways. But with Jeremy Mayfield at the #37 team, who would drive the second Penske entry? Well, with the CART/IRL split in full effect, "The Captain" convinced Little Al to make the switch to Winston Cup racing.

My last batch of schemes for this year, including finally finishing the Roush contingent, which I has taken like a week and a half.

#6 Mark Martin Viagra Ford

2003 was not a great season for Mark Martin by his standards, with no wins, 5 top 5's and 10 top 10's, as well as a whopping 7 DNF's.

#16 Greg Biffle Grainger Ford

Greg Biffle had a respectable Rookie campaign, crowned by a win at the Pepsi 400, but ultimately would lose out to Jamie McMurray for ROTY honors. This car was one of two that delayed the completion of this team, and I ended up using an existing flat to trace the patterns.

#17 Matt Kenseth DeWalt Tools Ford

Your 2003 Champion, Matt Kenseth won one race at Las Vegas, promptly took the points lead, and never turned back. Kenseth's raw consistency and dominance could simply not be matched, and NASCAR changed the points system in an attempt to never let that happen again.

#97 Kurt Busch Rubbermaid/Sharpie Ford

2003 was a small dip for the young Kurt Busch, dropping from 3rd in points to just outside the top 10. Still, not an awful season by any stretch.

#99 Jeff Burton Citgo Ford

The "Mayor" had a similar 2003 to his 2002, no wins, a slightly worse stat line, but the same points finish of 12th.

#11 Brett Bodine Hooters Ford

Owner/Driver Brett Bodine reduced his team to a partial schedule after a deal with Hooters chairman Robert Brooks to buy into the team fell through, and when Hooters left mid season, the team shut down soon after.

#72 Kirk Shelmerdine Freddie B's Ford

Kirk Shelmerdine's self owned team only ran the Winston Open, with Shelmerdine's only other attempt that season being at Daytona with Junie Donlavey.

#83 Kerry Earnhardt Aarons Chevrolet

Kerry Earnhardt's attempt to break into the cup series in 2003 wasn't much better than his attempts in 2002, DNQ-ing in all of his attempts, and being booted out of his Busch ride with the team mid season... OUCH!

Mike Wallace made the bulk of the starts for Phoenix Racing and James Finch, with backing from the Miccosukee Indian tribe and their Casino and Resort business.

DaleTona75 your stuff is awesome

I wish I had a computer to enjoy these beautiful works of art but sadly I'm stuck on a ps2 playing Nascar Thunder 04, Nascar 05 Chase for the cup and Nascar 06 Total Team Control

Back with something to show, I've decided in an effort to improve my abilities at making fictional schemes and brands and to fulfill a project idea I've had for a long while, I've started a project to randomly generate a scheme, with Driver name, Number, and color palette randomly selected for me, with my job being to create a suitable sponsor and come up with a scheme that ties it all together.

This also allows for me to put through my paces my new "What-if NASCAR never left the gen 4?" templates I've been working on. So with that being said, here we go!

#96 Harrison Simons - Vive La Vida Ice Cream Parlors Chevrolet SS

I was given a pallette with 2 shades of earthy greens, a pale sand color, and some variations of pink to work with. I decided that the easiest course of action was to work with the pinks, initially planning on making the sponsor a coffee shop. The swoops were initially three, with a middle stripe going from the tail lights in between, but I disposed of that after a re-work and went to just two swoop lines, separating the sand and magenta colors, and bringing the base scheme together. As I was finishing up the base, the scheme started reminding me of Baskin Robin's, and as such I decided to go the route of Ice Cream, with the company envisioned as a casual sit down ice cream parlor, the kind young urbanites would gather at after high school or on the weekends. After that was adding a number and finishing off the scheme. I'm proud of how this came out, and how I was able to work with the interesting color choices to forge something that is a complete package.

New car for this project, here we go!

#55 Timmy Earl - Roman Legion Quality Footwear Chevy SS

As soon as I got the color scheme, my mind immediately went to the uniforms Roman Legionnaires traditionally wore, starting with a swooping line, then adding a transition to dark red on the lower pattern. After which, to make the read look more like the skirts the Romans wore, I added some black airbrush strokes, blurred and smudged them, and that was the base scheme done. For the sponsor itself I went with a lions head and the traditional Roman leaf crown, and the green from the crown ended up as the drop shadow on the numbers, adding an extra splash of color. Finally the scheme still looked somewhat bland, so I made the base color chrome.

#15 Roydon Davis - Sea Breeze Car Fresheners Chevy SS

This one I monkeyed with the exact colors given by the palette a bit, the light colors lended themselves to the idea of an ocean based scheme. First the wave swoop was added to the car, but it seemed a bit plain, so I added frothy wave foam to give it more "oomph." A gradient for the rear and a bubble pattern further adds to the oceanic vibe of this car, while a more saturated teal ended up on the roof and hood for a bit of extra flair. Finally the sponsor went through some work, as initially I was thinking along the lines of a surf board, but eventually settled on a bright yellow arrow, simple but effective. The slogan "Feed The Breeze" was slapped on the rear quarter panels to fill space. Add numbers and name rail, and the scheme is complete!
