I have some new Camaro entries into my current set. Haven't started on any 'Stangs as of yet.

First up are some RCR Start & Park/Research & Development cars.

Rodney Combs, who ran a R&D car for Childress in 1988
03 Rodney Combs AC Camaro.png

Jimmy Hensley, who filled in for Earnhardt at Martinsville in 1990 but never started the race
03 Jimmy Hensley Childress Vineyards Camaro.png

and finally Kirk Shelmerdine, longtime Earnhardt crew chief who ran an extra Childress car at Texas World in the early 80's.

Next up is Jay Sauter, in another Goodwrench machine.

Next up are cars for Bahari Racing owned by Chuck Rider.

Michael Waltrip has two schemes, my take on the iconic Pennzoil car, as well as All Pro sponsorship
30 Micheal Waltrip Pennzoil Camaro.png

and finally a extra car for Ronnie Silver, a BGN driver who ran a handful of races for the team in 1990, one of which he actually did carry All Pro sponsorship.

Some new templates are up for viewing.

1994-2000 Dodge Avenger
1994-2000 Dodge Avenger.png
Some basic window reworking was done, as well as a copious shade job. Other than that pretty straight forward.

1989-1994 Chevrolet Lumina
1989-1994 Chevrolet Lumina.png
Yes, you may have already guessed I'm a crazy sun-uva-350-small-block, but again somehow does the trick. The nose shading took a lot of reworking to get the right effect, but it works. I also added window blackouts to reshape it more Lumina-esque.

Back with a new project, this time with an interesting twist. So I have been trying to get a Mock Season off the ground for ages, but have struggled painting cars to fill out the full field, and fretting over accuracy. So what if I keep the real drivers/sponsors/teams, but give them fictitious paint schemes? Thus the 2005 Alternate Schemes Project was born.

First up is Evernham Motorsports, who fielded 2 full time cars and one part time entry.

2005 9 Kasey Kahne Dodge Dealers
9_Kasey_Kahne_Dodge_Dealers.png
First up is Kasey Kahne's Dodge Dealers Dodge. For the Evernham Dodges, I used the 2005 RAM Mega Cab scheme as a base, Kahnes with no alterations. The multi layered glowing Ram was taken from a decal I made for the teams real 2005 car, and adds a bit of extra character to the car. I think this one does a good job of catching the eye and drawing you in.

2005 19 Jeremy Mayfield Dodge Dealers
19_Jeremy_Mayfield_Dodge_Dealers.png
Next up is Jeremy Mayfield, and not wanting to go for the traditional inversion, I chose a silverish grey for the rear. Somehow this doesn't look as garish as it could have been, especially with the greet accents, reminds me of his 2004 NBA All-Star Game Scheme.

2005 91 Bill Elliott Stanley Tools
91_Bill_Elliott_Stanley_Tools.png
Finally is the "primary" for Awesome Bill from Dawsonville. Keen eyes will see a resembelance to Marcos Ambrose's 2011 Stanley Scheme, and this is very much based on that, but the more black design used in 2011 at Sonoma, and later in 2013 at Dover. A somewhat more plain scheme, but one that works pretty well regardless.

Next up is Bill Davis Racing, one team of which has 2 paint schemes.

2005 22 Scott Wimmer Caterpillar
22_Scott_Wimmer_Caterpillar.png
Scott Wimmers scheme is roughly similar to his real car, but the black extends across the roof, and down the nose. This makes for a nice change over the normal BDR Caterpillar cars. Note all Bill Davis cars lack Dodge logos, doe to their association with Toyota.

2005 23 Mike Skinner Unsponsored
23_Mike_Skinner_Blank_White.png
This is inspired by Mike Skinner's Daytona car before sponsorship came onboard. This is basically a marriage of a par of 2004 schemes merged and transposed onto the 2005 Charger Body. Likely going to be used for races Skinner potentially doesn't have sponsorship for.

2005 23 Mike Skinner Auto Maniac
23_Mike_Skinner_Auto_Maniac.png
I was looking for something suiting of the sponsor scheme, and initially started off with Carl Long's 2006 Atomic X Dodge. Drop a stripe, narrow and contour across the nose, and voila, you have a simple but effective paint scheme.

Today I have 3 more cars from smaller single car teams, including a few Intrepids.

2005 49 Ken Schrader Schwans
49_Ken_Schrader_Schwans.png
I was pondering late last night what I'd do for Schrader, and thought that Jacques Villeneuve's 2008 Daytona car would be a nice base to work with. One palette swap, and some extra color on the nose later, and voila one Swanky Schwans Dodge.

2005 13 Greg Sacks Unsponsored13_Greg_Sacks_Blank_Blue.png
Making Fictionals for Unsponsored cars is harder than it seems, as they usually are pretty generic by default, but at the same time adding too much ruins the underfunded backmarke feel. So I decided on taking Sacks Pocono car, adding some extra Highlighter Yellow, and some Dark Blue Accents on the side. Subtle and pleasing to the eye.

2005 61 Jeff Fuller Unsponsored
61_Jeff_Fuller_Blank_Black.png
Like the Sacks car above, I had the same issue, I started with a Orange line, and then started messing with colors. The grey stripe was blue for the longest time, but I felt it looked out of place, and the bottom and rear were various shades of gray from light to dark, before I settled on just keeping it black. Orange Spoiler and Valence tape are there to add an extra splash of color.

Here is something a little bit different. Not entirely NR2003 related, but a while back I modified the EA Sports NASCAR Thunder 2003/Team Om3gA Cup2000 models, one of which I heavily reworked into a T-Bird. I have since mapped the body, and now am starting to put liveries on it.

1997 Bill Elliott McDonalds - Primary
94_Bill_Elliott_McDonalds.png
This is the first ever proper paint on one of my models, and I'm pretty happy with it. Not 100% accurate to any particular race, but it is close enough to the mark where I'm happy with it.

1997 Bill Elliott Team ASE - Fictional
94_Bill_Elliott_TeamASE.png
This is a fictitious car based on Elliott's Truck from the 1997 Las Vegas race, just transposed onto a Cup car. Simple, clean, and looks pretty nice to boot.

Back to scratch made models, in an attempt to potentially get something into NR2003, I'm simplifying things into their most basic forms. So I decided to cook up a roughly Chrysler J-Body shape, and put some basic textures on it (which I probably spent too much time and effort on for a "basic" texture, but I can't help it.)

1980-1983 Dodge Mirada
1980-1983 Dodge Mirada.png
Several smaller teams ran Mirada's in the early 80's, most notably Chrysler stalwart Buddy Arrington. This is the first I made and mostly looks the part.

1980-1983 Chrysler Cordoba
1980-1983 Chrysler Cordoba.png
No fine Corinthian leather here, I based my Cordoba off of the higher trim version with the waterfall grill, rather than the base model LS, which had a different grill shape....

1980-1983 Plymouth Savoy
1980-1983 Plymouth Savoy.png
I wanted Plymouth in on the action, so I basically gave them the grill from the base Cordoba, and called it a day.

1980-1983 DeSoto Rebel
1980-1983 DeSoto Rebel.png
Finally the wildest of the ideas, what if DeSoto survived the turn of the 60's? I decided for a less chromey waterfall grill and vertical tail lights to set it apart from it's Mopar brethren.

This week I have been working on some 2000 paint schemes for a personal Cup2000 mega-set.

2000 #5 Terry Labonte Kelloggs - Chevrolet Monte Carlo - Hendrick Motorsports
5 Terry Labonte Kelloggs.png
I've done this Terry Labonte car before but with my newer found skills decided to redo it. Still a good looking scheme.

2000 #16 Kevin Lepage Northern Lights.com - Ford Taurus - Roush Racing
16 Kevin Lepage Northern Lights.png
Usually when people think of Lepage's 2000 ride they think of the Family Click.com car, but in the opening 2 races of the year (Daytona and Rockingham) webhost Northern Lights.com was the primary sponsor, originally for the full campaign, but left for a deal with Indycar (though they DID stick around with Roush's BGN team)

2000 #27 Jeff Fuller/Mike Bliss Viagra - Pontiac Grand Prix - Eel River Racing
27 Jeff Fuller Viagra.png
27 Mike Bliss Viagra.png
The Eel River racing team embarked on their first and only full time campaign in 2000 with Viagra sponsorship. Jeff Fuller started the year, but was dropped for Mike Bliss after the latters departure from A.J. Foyts team. The organaizations best finish would a 9th at Talladega, and they would have 10 DNF's, 4 DNQ's and their second best finish would be 19th.

2000 #97 Chad Little John Deere - Ford Taurus - Roush Racing
97 Chad Little John Deere.png
This is my rendition of the iconic John Deere scheme, that is remembered more for the catchy paint job than anything notable it's driver did. A fair bit of scratch making was done here

99 Jeff Burton Exide Batteries.png
This car was TEDIOUS, but ultimately turned out pretty decent. I know there are improvements that could be made, but for such a complex scheme I'm ok with it as is.

Great job! BTW all the 2000 schemes had a NASCAR 2000 logo on where the NASCAR logo is.

Great job! BTW all the 2000 schemes had a NASCAR 2000 logo on where the NASCAR logo is.
I thought I edited the post to add a reasoning behind that, which I do have, and the omission is on purpose. The mega-project I'm working on will ultimately include schemes from as early as 1981 to as recent as today. As such I want some congruity between the various years represented, and the NASCAR 2000 logo would make the cars stick out amongst the rest.

Back to 3d modeling, still hoping to eventually get something into NR2003.00-05 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.png

Here is what I have currently of a scratch made 00-02 Monte Carlo. Probably going to do windows, add my custom tires and a simple underpan, then try and put it into NR2003.

New project alert! Back to the year 2006, with a mod based around the year 2000. Yes, I am crazy, and no I don't need help x'D

2006 Kasey Kahne Dodge Dealers - Evernham Motorsports Dodge Charger
9 Kasey Kahne Dodge Dealers.png
2006 was Kasey Kahne's true breakout year - 6 poles, 6 wins, 12 top 5's and 19 top 10's. The only thing keeping him out of true championship contention was a slight lack of consistency, especially in the back half of the season, but you could be assured the #9 crew and CC Kenny Francis could unload anywhere and be lightning quick out of the gate.

Here is a boat load of cars for your viewing pleasure

2006 Scott Riggs Valvoline - Valvoline Evernham Motorsports Dodge Charger
10 Scott Riggs Valvoline.png
Scott Riggs first season with Evernham Motorsports was his best on record. Despite missing the Daytona 500, he scored a pole at the Coke 600 and almost won the same weekend. 1 top 5 and 8 top 10's and a 20th place points finish rounded out a season i which Riggs showed plenty of potential, which was sadly never truly realized.

2006 Jeremy Mayfield Dodge Dealers - Evernham Motorsports Dodge Charger
19 Jeremy Mayfield Dodge Dealers.png
Oh dear poor Mayfield. Coming off of back to back chase births, and the rest of Evernham on the upswing, you'd think 2006 would be another good year, but it was anything but. The #91 R&D team from 2005 was given to Mayfield, and his cars to Evernham development driver Erin Crocker, if the rumors spread around have legitimacy. Whatever struck the #19 team, Mayfield was out by mid season, after calling out Evernham's relationship with aforementioned with Erin Cricker, who would later become his future wife. Further rumors state the disarray caused by Mayfield may have led to his later "drug suspension," with some saying it might have been an inside job between NASCAR and Evernham, but solid proof on that front is hard to come by, and is again mostly just hearsay.

2006 Kurt Busch Miller Lite - Penske Racing South Dodge Charger
2 Kurt Busch Miller Lite.png
Kurt Busch's first season with the famed Blue Deuce saw some fairly immediate success, with 6 poles, and a win early on at Bristol. But Kurt wasn't quite able to translate saturday speed to sunday success as much as he would have liked, as Penskes aggressive engine program favored single lap speed over long run consistancy. 7 top 5's and 12 top 10's round off the statline, along with 3 DNF's, and an average finish of 19.4 compared to a 10.4 starting average.

2006 Ryan Newman Alltell - Penske Racing South Dodge Charger
12 Ryan Newman Alltel.png
The Rocket Man suprisingly didn't see too much in the way of his usual Qualifying heroics, with only 2 Poles on the year. An 11.6 average start does signal that his Q-trim performance was still stellar, just not quite to the level he was known for. 2 top 5's and 7 top 10's signafied a season where most of the races were spent going backwards with a dissapointing 20.6 being all Newman had to show for it.

Note, several fixes have been made since the screenshot renders were taken, including colored wheels for the Penske cars, missing headlight/taillight decals on the #19 and eaarlier #9 car, and the removal of McDonalds from the decklid of the #19

I've done some more work on my 3d models, cooking up a proper Camaro body from the Cup2000/NASCAR Thunder 2003 Pontiac.

First up is based on Sterling Marlin's Coors Light car, a mix of 1999 and 2000.

Next up is an obscure scheme, The Tracfone machine driven by several drivers in 1999, here represented by Jeff Green

Back with another random paint, this time feeling out a potential fictional universe again.

#51 James Dennis Allen - Canton Auto Repair/Bradley's Signage - Chevrolet Lumina
51 James Dennis Allen Canton Auto Repair.png

I used a random color pallet generator to come up with colors for the scheme, and it ultimately spit out John Deere-esque colors. But with this supposed to be a Winston West/Busch North style series, I came up with fictitious sponsors for the car to represent local companies sponsoring the car.

Here is my first proper Cup98 paint in AGES: What If StarCom Racing existed back in 1998?

00 Quinn Houff Star Com.png

This was a fun car to do, as I custom made a era appropriate logo for the sponsor, which was an enjoyable thought experiment. Put Quinn Houff in the car because why not? The contigs are placeholders that came with the template, and likely will be replaced.

If this team actually ran in period, it likely would be a frequent DNQ, especially in their first season considering how poor they were in 2017. Probably at best no better than say the ISM Tobasco ride or Joe Falk's #91.

"When The Job Gets Tough, GO TIGER!"

I've slowly been trying to get into the headspace to dive into game development, and as such have been slowly working on various "assets" that may or may not be used.

One of the major things if I were to develop my own racing game, would be the fact that I couldn't use real sponsors due to licensing reasons, and as such have to come up with my own brands. And out of that came an idea prompt I cooked up while I was getting ready for bed.

60 Tiger Tools W.I.P.png

This was a fun project to work on, and is probably one of the best implimentations I have ever done for a fictitious company. The design falls along my primary design philosophy: simple, bold, effective. Not too much clutter or detail, but easily recognizable and eye catching.

The Hood logo originally had text planned below, but the logo itself filled out space so nicely I decided to let it stand loud and proud, front and center on the hood.

The Side Tiger also went through a few revisions, with it originally being alongside the Tiger Text, with the text cutting into the tiger head. This eventually changed to have the head fill the space between the front of the rear tire and the number, while shifting the text backwards in the process.

The number is plain and simple Impact, nothing extraordinarily unique there, just a clean font that's not offensive on the eyes.

I will eventually change the Dodge branding and Contigs to something non-trademarked later down the road, but for now I think this car is done.

Back on the NR2003 wagon, I've decided to take a break from Cup2000 and work on Cup90. Why this mod in particular? The rear windows on the model are solid, allowing for me to better shape them for accuracy via decals.

Toyota Celica.png
The first entry in this line of templates is a Toyta Celica, based on the Goody's Dash car. This originally started from NeoDart28's template on Racing Reference, but in the end only the manufacture decals and headlights remain, as I modified the rest of the car for better accuracy. Of course there is only so much I can do on a boxy model, but every alt-template for NR2003 has it's compromises.
