AI Enhanced Tool Guide

This is a quick overview guide on how to use and what AI Enhanced tool is. The guide was created by NR2003_Ryan the creator of the tool and I was given permission to post here from reddit: )

AI Enhanced has a lot more features than its early days, and is a bit harder for beginners to digest now. This guide should help answer some basic "How do I use this thing?" questions.

I would break AI Enhanced's functionality into 3 "layers"

1. Modifying AI driving behavior during a race

Have you ever wanted to make the AI cars drive more aggressively in the closing laps? Or move the racing groove as the race progresses? At its core, AI Enhanced lets you do exactly that.

INI Files tab allows you to edit most papy_ai.ini, and [ai_track] section of track.ini fields during a live race! For example, lowering drafting distance to 1 or less on its own will cause ai to follow much more aggressively. Lap files tab allows you to edit the lap files, which guide the ai drivers around the track, during a live race!

For example, in the Advanced Editor, you can click and drag the race lp box at the top to easily move the default racing groove. There are also special modes that aren't built into the base game, but you can also edit these during a live race.

2. Presets

Now, imagine you've made a bunch of edits to ini files, etc, that you want to apply to the game again later. It would be quite painful to manually set all those again. This is where you can save your settings you've modified on INI files, Lap files, etc to a "Preset" and load it and apply it later!

There are also some starter presets included in the tool for you to try. Note: they are built for stock tracks and often need some tweaking on custom tracks.

This is actually a good starting point for using the tool. Try loading a starter preset, applying to game, and then tweaking it in INI files, etc tabs.

3. Race (Lap Triggers)

Now, imagine you have a preset saved that you would like to apply at some point during the race. It can be a burden to tab over from the game to AI Enhanced to apply the preset, especially if you're driving in the race yourself. This is where you can set a Lap Trigger to automatically apply a preset at a certain point in the race, for example a specific lap.

You can also set a Lap Trigger for Yellows and/or Restarts, which will apply during yellows/restarts and automatically revert to the regularly scheduled preset once normal green flag racing resumes.

Lastly, you can save all of your Lap Triggers to a "Race" that you can load again later!

Tip: Click the Help button in the top right for tips on the currently active tab.
